Surroundings
Pamplona, a fairly green city, has many attractions and is a great destination for a weekend or short break away.
The historical centre of Pamplona is on Arga river banks (a branch of the river Ebro). Made up of attractive cobbled streets it is a great spot for relishing in the varied Navarre cuisine gastronomy including local pintxo (bite size snacks or skewers typical to the region).
Much of the city walls are still standing (rebuilt in 16th century). Pamplona is also the first stop along the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage footpath.
The city is world famous for its San Fermín festival (The Running Of The Bulls) that takes place during July, in which bulls are set loose from their pen up and run up to the bull ring while many locals run alongside or in front of them.
